Forestry Together

Helping to build equity, diversity, and inclusion in the Canadian forest sector.

What is Forestry Together?

Forestry Together is an alliance of representatives from across Canada who have come together to positively impact equity, diversity, and inclusion in the forest sector. Our goal is to build meaningful inclusion of sector employees and focus on increasing equity for all. We believe that the future of forestry in Canada depends on the equitable participation of all individuals and communities. Join us in making this a reality.

Where

National in scope, regional in action

Why
  • Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) is a social justice and societal imperative. It is the right thing to do.

  • There is an opportunity to remove potential systemic barriers, thereby advancing EDI in the forest sector.

  • The forestry sector is experiencing a shortage of skilled worked. The viability of the forest sector depends in its ability to attract and retain diverse new, emerging, and experienced workers.

  • Enhancing EDI improves performance, drives growth and value creation, and improves the attraction, engagement, and retention of employees.

There are a group of four individuals standing in a sunlit grassy opening in the forest. There is a willow bush on the left and a mix of coniferous trees and willows in the background. The four individuals are all wearing orange hard hats and are standing in a U shape, facing each other. The woman and man on the left and the man on the right are all wearing red crusing vests with reflective strips. Their vest hold a variety of equipment like compasses and the man on the right is holding a large rolled up map. The woman in the center is wearing an orange safety vest with reflective strips and she is holding a tablet that she is referencing. They all appear to be having an engaging conversation that they are enjoying.

"Diversity is being invited to the party; inclusion is being asked to dance."
